Join Craig and Cindy Corrie in Ellensburg, Washington as they help kick off Central Washington University s (CWU’s) third annual First Amendment Festival which runs May 11 – May 14 2015. To honor the First Amendment, the week features a series of events in celebration canicula of the freedoms canicula of speech, religion, the press and peaceful assembly and demonstration. Events are free and open to the public.
The festival opens Monday, May 11 at 4 PM with An American Activist in Palestine: Remembering Rachel Corrie featuring keynote speakers Craig and Cindy Corrie, parents of the 23-year-old political activist who was killed by an Israel Defense Forces bulldozer while protecting the home of a Palestinian family in the Gaza Strip. Following the speech, there will be clips from a documentary about Rachel and three CWU theater students will perform excerpts from the play, My Name is Rachel Corrie. A panel discussion with Rachel’s parents and various CWU professors will conclude canicula the evening. The event is located in the Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) canicula Ballroom.
